Our Top 5 playgrounds to entertain the kids these holidays! We love our outdoor lifestyle here on the Gold Coast, and what better way to experience this wonderful city than to enjoy our playgrounds and green spaces with the kids. The best part is they are all completely free!

1. Pirate Treasure Island Playground, Palm Beach
A fantastic playground, sure to spark imaginative play, with a lovely grassed area for ball games and picnics, plenty of shade and parking. There is a cafe nearby, and the amazing Currumbin Creek inlet for shallow water play. The actual playground has lots of interesting things to explore- pirate themed of course! There are barrels, boats, a treasure chest full of booty, a crocodile, caves to explore and a pirate ship to navigate.
2. Broadwater Parklands, Southport
Enjoy the ride-on pedal power ‘trains’, a pirate ship for the little ones, flying fox, swings and a giant inflatable jumping pillow. The perfect park to bring your bikes and scooters and enjoy cruising along the wide concrete paths safely away from the traffic and roads, or utilising the child friendly bike/scooter ‘obstacle course’.
Bonus- with the weather getting a bit warmer there is no need to leave the broadwater parklands to cool off, just a quick 5 minute walk north along the path and you will come across the Rockpools.
The Rockpools water playground is the first of its kind on the Gold Coast, and is a hit with the kids! The Rockpools has shallow wade-height water with spouting water animals and waterfalls. There are a variety of pool areas and creek beds with water filling up and emptying on timers. Pop jets squirt water throughout the play area and waterfalls cascade down the rockpools.
3. Harley Park, Labrador
There are two playgrounds, with a nautical-themed ship playground to the south, and a climbing-inspired playground with poles, ropes, ladders and a flying fox to the north. The kids will be kept happy with two very different play options! Overlooking the broadwater with plenty of shade and at 1:30pm each day the local wild pelicans stop by for a visit and some lunch from the local fish and chip shop Charis Seafood.
4. Botanic gardens, Benowa
This nature playground features areas for all age children; a toddler fort with slide and climbing net, Swing set with baby swing, and a giant fort for older kids with climbing poles, slide and scramble nets. Kids can also play in among the tree forest to the right of the playground or enjoy the sensory garden where they can smell and touch the flowers.
5. Kurrawa Pratten Park, Broadbeach
The entirely fenced playground features several sea-themed zones of play to address the varied play abilities and ages. The playground incorporates sensory, motor, imaginative and educational aspects of play and was designed to enable children with disabilities to play outdoors side to side with their friends and siblings.
