Where’s the best spot for a romantic picnic in Surfers Paradise?

If you ask us, Surfers Paradise is the ideal location for a picnic on the Gold Coast if you’re looking for time well spent with your favourite people.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, whether you’re here on holidays or lucky enough to be a local, there’s many wonderful areas to set up a blanket and enjoy a meal outside. Plus, with so many shops and restaurants nearby, you can easily grab everything you need for a primo picnic spread. (ps: read on if you’d like us to cater your picnic!)

Here are some of our top picks for a romantic picnic in Surfers Paradise:

BUDDS BEACH:

Just a short walk from the Novotel Surfers Paradise, you’ll find Budds Beach Reserve along the Nerang River. With both hinterland and water views, this chilled-out spot is the perfect place for you and your partner to enjoy some golden hour drinks and nibbles. Be sure to get your phone out and capture a photo of the stunning Surfers skyline which is sure to get your attention as the sun goes down.

How to get there:
Budds Beach is an easy 15 minute walk from the hotel.

MAIN BEACH:

A popular spot, you’ll find Main Beach along the stretch of sand between the Southport Spit and Surfers Paradise Beach. Where parkland, surf and still-water activities come together, there’s plenty of parking, facilities, and of course, room to flick out your picnic blanket and lay for hours. Main Beach is picnic perfection.

How to get there:
Strap on your sneakers for a 40 minute stroll, or, get the Surfside Bus. Ask our Concierge for more information.

HOTA PARKLAND:

Home of the Arts’ bustling weekend market is held every Sunday from 6.30-11am. This makes it a great spot for a Sunday morning picnic. Grab a coffee and something delicious from one of the local market stalls, and kick back to the sound of live music.

How to get there:
Strap on your sneakers for a 30 minute stroll towards the Hinterland side of the hotel.

BROADWATER PARKLANDS:

The Broadwater Parklands on Marine Parade is the ideal spot to unwind and have a meal with friends and family thanks to its waterfront views, plentiful picnic tables and one of the best kids playgrounds around. With nearby parking, BBQs and amenities, this spot is great for kids and adults alike. And if you’ve forgotten anything? Just zip across the road to Australia Fair Shopping Centre.

How to get there:
Jump on the Translink Tram towards Helensvale and you’ll be there in around 25 minutes.

Need picnic supplies?

We have picnic baskets for hire, complete with gourmet sandwiches, mixed salads, a fabulous cheese plate, whole fruits, chocolate-dipped strawberries and soft drinks. You can take the baskets wherever you’d like and return to BLVD Cafe in our foyer.
