The Lifesaving World Championships, a prestigious international event in lifesaving sports, is coming to the Gold Coast in 2024!

This event consistently draws the world’s most skilled and proficient lifesaving athletes, all competing for the esteemed title of the World’s best.

Surf Life Saving Queensland takes pride in hosting this dynamic event, which will span three weeks from August 20 to September 8, 2024.

During this period, the Gold Coast will be the gathering point for roughly 7,000 athletes, spanning various age groups from youths to seasoned masters. The assembly includes Olympians and World Champions. Additionally, an impressive 12,000 supporters from as many as 50 countries will join in to witness the action unfold.

Lifesaving sport underlines the remarkable skills and physical prowess required for life-saving rescues, showcased through a diverse array of competitive events conducted on the beach, in the ocean, and in the pool.

The pool competitions will take place at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Southport, while the ocean events are scheduled for Kurrawa Beach. LWC 2024 is poised to be one of the most significant international sporting events in Queensland since the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
